Take a BowTAKE A BOW – Elizabeth Eulberg

What do a former child actor, a shy composer/lyricist, a self-destructive musical prodigy, and an ambitious, cutthroat narcissist have in common? They all attend a prestigious New York high school for the performing arts. Beginning with auditions and ending with graduation, we follow these four disparate characters on a rollercoaster of dizzying heights, frightening free falls, and out-of-control spirals as they journey through senior year. Most sympathetic award goes to Emme, who is sweet, trusting, loyal, and almost unaware of her talent. She is equally unaware of her childhood “friend”, Sophie’s, betrayal, and of her bandmate, Ethan, whose feelings for Emme go way beyond friendship. Perhaps the most unique character is Carter, who’s been in show biz for so long he’s unsure what role he truly wants to play in real life. Chock full of epiphanies, showdowns, twists and romance, Take a Bow is an enjoyable read with four highly satisfying resolutions, and a great message on top of it all: believe in yourself.
